Experience the Art of Fencing with a Beginner's Fencing Course in Ottawa!
Welcome to the Excalibur Fencing Club (EXO).
Located at the University of Ottawa’s downtown campus, the club offers programs for fencers of all levels and ages, with social and competitive activities organized regularly throughout the season. Our coaching staff is certified through the National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP) and we are affiliated with both the Ontario and Canadian Fencing Federations.
Our members have won numerous provincial and national titles and have represented Canada at the Olympic Games, World Championships, Pan-Am Games, World University Games and at the Commonwealth Championships.
Attack and Parry
The Beginner’s Fencing Course introduces the basics of using a foil sword—a small sword with a thin, flexible blade that descends from the 18th century. Learn the rules of the sport, footwork, attack and parry techniques and complete the beginning stages of the Yellow Armband or first level of fencing.
All courses are taught by nationally certified instructors. Included in your course is access to safe, clean equipment for the course duration and, at its completion, participate in an in-house tournament to try out your new skills in competition.
